And it also explained why we had seen particular scenes earlier, which felt unconnected. I'm very glad you enjoyed it. I love the bleaker kind of post-apocalyptic fiction as well, but it was nice to have something quite different.

The Reapers are the Angels sounds really interesting and the ebook's pretty reasonably priced, so I shall give that a try! :)Rosariohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13015659149421085931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3730322.post-12675353472747611742014-12-06T04:00:21.758+00:002014-12-06T04:00:21.758+00:00Yes -- The Reapers are the Angels by Alden Bell. A...Yes -- The Reapers are the Angels by Alden Bell. At time the prose is dreamlike and poetic, and the imagery really beautiful. But, yeah. Definitely not real hopeful about the human race.meljean brookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16135527993507471830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3730322.post-62479830224675714522014-12-06T03:58:07.923+00:002014-12-06T03:58:07.923+00:00I kind of feel like this is the book that Midwinte...I kind of feel like this is the book that Midwinterblood tried to be -- the different but connected narratives, and all of those connections fit together so much better and added more to the story.

Anyway, I got it because of this review, and very glad I did. It really is so much different from the typical post-apocalyptic book (which I love, but they do sort of run together).

In that way, it reminded me a little of ... (I'm trying to remember the title.) The Reapers are the Angels (?)

That did have the violence and I can't really say it was upbeat (or that I particularly liked some of it) but still fascinating in a can't-put-down way, and a wonderfully different approach to the apocalypse.

Now I have to go make sure that's the right title.meljean brookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16135527993507471830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3730322.post-87151782730343793572014-11-28T06:30:54.893+00:002014-11-28T06:30:54.893+00:00:) Yeah, these last few weeks I've reviewed a ...:) Yeah, these last few weeks I've reviewed a lot of 'meh' books.
